VOIP Power with PhonePower

PhonePower VOIP for HOme OfficeAt BestRatePlans, one of the first things we noticed was that PhonePower came up as the best choice a lot of times when using our VOIP comparison search engine. Next we liked it that they start out as a simple Voice over Internet service provider, but offer a lot of features and upgrades to rival more expensive “virtual PBX” systems. So we think they’re a good choice for the home office and also allow some room to grow when you need extra extensions and other options. If you’re just learning about VOIP, we have a Savings Tip article about it here:  How Do You Save With VOIP? Now let’s take a look at what PhonePower can do for your business…

Softphone for iPhone/iPad calls

A "Softphone" app is included for making calls on your iPhone, iPad, PC, or laptop.

Home Office VOIP Solution

Like a lot of people these days, you either work out of home at times as part of the “deal” with you company, or you run your own company or side-business from home.  You need affordable, but professional communications.  That’s where PhonePower comes in… wouldn’t it be great if you could get:

  • Faxes to email
  • Call waiting and caller hold
  • Call routing
  • A “soft phone” so you can call from your computer and iPhone/iPad too
  • A second line extension when needed
  • Enhanced 911
  • Voicemail to email, and remote voice mail access
  • Use the system with standard telephones (this is another reason why we like PhonePower for the home business — get two extensions, one for business and one for personal calls… and use any phone you like for them)

You can with PhonePower — and those are just nine of thirty features you’ll enjoy on the base service.

Save if You Call Overseas a lot

Above, is a screenshot from our VOIP comparison search engine (you can try it yourself) where we checked rates for calls to Singapore, and also checked on “No Activation Fee” and “Adapter/Router Included” — two more excellent benefits you get with PhonePower.  QT Talk is another VOIP provider we offer, but we think they’re better for simple family plans.

You can see from the screenshot that PhonePower comes out on top for calls to Singapore at 1¢ per minute — just as it does for most other countries.

Add-on Business Features when You Need Them

You can add extra extensions, an 800 number ($5mo. plus 4¢ min.), and a featured called “Call Hunt Group” — a way to make sure you find an important contact, or contacts, by entering several numbers in and having the system dial them in succession (great for salespeople).

Frequently Asked Questions about PhonePower’s VOIP Service

How does it work? For regular phones, you get a free lease on a home adapter.  You will simply plug it into your current Broadband Modem and it will connect directly to Phone Power’s servers (No matter what type of Broadband you use: Cable, DSL, etc.).  Then plug two phones into it — see diagram below. To make calls from your PC, laptop, or iphone — no other hardware is required — you just use your online “Soft Phone” to make and receive calls.

Easy PhonePower VOIP setup

What if the Internet Goes Down? PhonePower has a “Fail Safe” feature that automatically forwards your calls to any phone number if the internet is temporarily down.

What is your Free “Cloned Second Line”? Since you can hook two phones up, you get features for the second phone which allow it to call out when the other phone is in use, and both phones show incoming call waiting notices.

Do I have to Have a Contract? No.  But… you save if you do.  Paying monthly currently begins at $19.95mo.  A 1-year contract lowers that to $16.95mo., and a 2-year contract lowers it to $14.95mo — saving $120 over those two years.

What About Support? Support is available 24/7 from PhonePower by chat, email and online knowledge base.

What’s the Difference Between PhonePower’s PBX and a full Virtual PBX? Mostly that comes down to additional features and extensibility.  For example, iTeleCenter‘s package also offers music on hold, an auto-attendant with customizable main greeting that routes callers to the correct extension, and a Fax on Demand feature that allows prospects to receive faxes from your system automatically.  Their plans start at $9.95mo., but you pay 6.9¢ per minute for all calling after 50 minutes on that plan.  PhonePower charges only 2¢ per minute for calls after you exceed 5000 outbound minutes.
